Southern Utah Photoshoot Locations

LOCAL

Downtown St George

Downtown St George is such a fun area to photograph in all year round due to the urban landscape! You can have your photos done anywhere from Main Street, to the parking garage on Tabernacle, to the city square along Tabernacle as well.

Kirkland Field - No Dogs Allowed

Kirkland field is a private property where the owner has been so generous to let photographers use the field for photoshoots. Dogs are unfortunately not allowed due to horses and cattle that are sometimes roaming the field. This area is located in Washington, UT across from the Sullivan Soccer Park and is great to shoot on from late April-December!

Tonaquint Nature Center

Tonaquint Nature Center is North of the tennis courts in Tonaquint Park. The landscape gives a “woodsy” feel which is so unlike Southern Utah! It’s filled with pine trees, greenery, an amphitheater, and a pond filled with ducks and turtles! Great area for smaller families or portraits and is great to shoot there from March-December!

Tonaquint Gardens

Tonaquint Gardens are located south of the Tonaquint Tennis Courts. It’s filled with tons of greenery, palm trees, rock paths, and a few large grass areas. This is a great spot for small to large families/groups. It’s great to photograph in from late April-early December!

Virgin River

The Virgin River is kind of a more hidden location to the public but is so stunning for photo sessions! It’s filled with white sands, greenery, and brush all around. Good are for both small and large families/groups. Pets are of course allowed here but please make sure to clean up after your fluffy family members!

Snow Canyon State Park - $45 Permit Fee

Snow Canyon State Park is filled with red rock, white rock, and lava rock locations. Great for small to large families/groupings. Dogs are allowed in certain areas and along paved pathways! For every session and event wanting to photograph in Snow Canyon, I will need to request a photography permit for that specific day and time at least a week before the session. Permits are an additional $45 on top of the session fee. Due to limited permits, the park may deny requests so pre-planning is essential if wanting to photograph anywhere in the park. Snow Canyon includes (and needs a permit for) anywhere in the park, Chuckawalla trail, the Overlook, White Rocks, Johnson Trail, and Cougar Cliffs.

Dixie Rock

Dixie Rock is located right in the middle of St George and is filled with beautiful red rock locations and shows off how stunning St George is in the background! Great spot for all year round for both small to large families/groups. I highly recommend scheduling your shoot here during a weekday because weekends get a bit crazy with tourists at this location.

Kayenta

This location is another stunning red rock location more for smaller families/groups! Located to the side of the road by some hiking trails in Kayenta, UT. There are trails that you can hike to be closer to the red rock mountains in the background or you can stay by the road and still get amazing views!

Firelake Park

Firelake Park is also known as Ivins Res. It’s located very west of Ivins, UT. Great backdrop with a pond, and a lake! Great for small to large groupings, and is best if the session is on a weekday due to tourists.

The Gorge

This location is another hidden gem and is actually in Arizona (15 minutes south of St. George)! It’s filled with the stunning mountains and Joshua Trees you see in the Gorge! It’s great for small to medium sized families/groups.

White Dome Nature Preserve

White Dome Nature Preserve is an awesome place if you are wanting a neutral background that’s outdoors! Great for all year round and good for small to large families and groups! Major vast desert vibes, and you can hike as far as you want for your photoshoot! Trails are easy to hike but you might want a comfy pair of shoes until you get to your session spot. This is located on South River Road in St George, UT almost to the Arizona border.

Werner Valley

COMING SOON!!!!

High School

High Schools are great for senior sessions! If you are wanting to use the field, you might need a way to get a key for access because most high school fields are locked. Otherwise that, the grounds to a lot of high schools are awesome and we can find so many fun/unique places!

TRAVEL

Sand Hollow $15

Sand Hollow Reservoir is stunning as it shows off the lake, sand, and red rock landscape! If you are wanting a fun, bare-foot, summer vibes spot, this is it! Summer weekends are full of tourists and beach goers, so I would highly recommend a weekday so there are less people to work around. There is a $15 entrance fee! Be cautious of the swimmers itch that is usually between May-August if you are wanting to hop in the water and is found commonly on the south shore. Great for a location between March-early November!

Woods Ranch $75

Woods Ranch is located up Cedar Canyon about 15 minutes from Cedar City, UT. It has a big grassy (short grass) field with beautiful aspen trees surrounding it. There are bathrooms and pavilions available around the area if needed. Great location from May-late October due to icy road conditions and snow.

Cedar City $75

Cedar City is a fun little town to do photos along the main street! There are fun back alleys, older cute stores, parking lots, and a big park downtown. With the more busy areas along the sidewalks, it could fit a small family at the most, then the big park could hold larger groups! Good from May-October due to snow.

Kolob Terrace $75

Kolob Terrace is about an hour from St George, north of Virgin, UT. There’s a road pull off where there is a giant golden grassy area with stunning red cliffs in the background. Great for small to larger groups. The optimal time of year to shoot at this location is from June-early November due to icy road conditions and snow. This location is considered inside of Zions National Park so if you are planning to bring props, etc. there is a permit required (without props, you do not need a permit).

Pine Valley $75

Pine Valley, UT is full of gorgeous places and such a stunning area just over an hour outside of St George. Lots of pine tree areas, golden fields, and a hidden camping area with a little river running through it! For the river/camping area, you need a car or truck that’s higher off the ground to get to it due to the bumpy terrain. Due to the recent fire, the park is currently closed and off limits for photo sessions. Best to shoot there from May-early November due to icy roads and snow.

Joshua Trees $35

The Joshua Trees area is on the way to Beaver Dam from Santa Clara, UT (30 minutes from St George). It’s filled with Joshua trees and has a gorgeous flat, dirt road to take family portraits. The area can fit small to larger families/groups. Great for all year round photo sessions due to the desert landscape.

Zions Overlook Trail $110

The Zions Overlook Trail is right after the main tunnel up the mountain. Its roughly a 2 mile hike round trip so bring comfy hiking shoes. This hike is highly populated with tourists so it would be ideal for couples or portraits. I would also highly recommend this spot for weekdays due to tourists. The view is absolutely breathtaking and a MUST if you are wanting Zions displayed in the background! Day passes for Zion are $35 per car. Ideal times for this location are from May-October due to frozen trails, roads, and snow.

Las Vegas $250

If you are wanting old Hollywood style photos this is THE PLACE! Each photoshoot is clearly a party in Las Vegas. You can go along the strip, to Fremont Street, and the Little White Chapel (permit needed). So many fun locations to get a wide variety of colorful exciting photos!

STUDIO/INDOOR

The Photo Loft

The Photo Loft is located in St George and is an indoor studio that provides lots of different backdrops, walls, an infinity wall, etc! It is a smaller studio so I would recommend that it’s best for portraits, or small families. Pets are not allowed. Please check out their website: https://photoloftstg.com/ for availability and booking!

White Space Studios

White Space Studios is located in Santa Clara, UT! It has a commercial kitchen, lots of windows for natural light, and blank white walls for a more neutral look! Pets are not allowed. Please check out their website: https://thewhitespacestudios.com/services/st-george-studio/ for availability and to book!

Garage

Garage sessions are SO fun and very simple! I either come to your garage or you come to my home, I set up a backdrop, and then we get to shooting! I love using natural light for these while also getting a studio feel with the plain backdrops!

Home

Home is where the heart is so why not have your photos done in your own home! I’ve done business photos, family, product, maternity, etc in clients homes and each one has been so special!
